THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD AND THE 12 APOSTLES Take a tour along the Great Ocean Road and witness the remnants of nature; the Twelve Apostles. These magnificent sculptures were formed from eroding limestone over 10 to 20 million years ago and are one of the world's most photographed figures. View the changing looks at sunrise and sunset; from dark and ominous to brilliant yellows during the sunny days. This area deserves a minimum of two days but could keep you busy for up to a week with a variety of places to see and things to do. This is another area where homestay, farmstay and B & B range from family to luxurious and they make a great alternative to the country hotels and motels that abound. An abundant dairy industry in this area gives rise to a number of cheese factories for tastings. For an extended tour (at least 2 nights and 3 days) we recommend continuing along the coast and head north to the Grampians National Park for great country views, bush-walking, climbing, wildlife, wineries and return via Ballarat.
